To all lovers of 80’s Italian steel bikes. My latest painting “Italian Icon” celebrates the craftsmanship of that era.  My “Deranchipinago” has elements of De Rosa, Bianchi, Pinarello and Colnago merged into one love affair I felt I needed to express. Grazie Italia. Prints will shortly be available to order.

Delighted to unveil a few close-ups of my latest painting “Tom’s 2017 = 10″, completed in time for the 2018 Giro d’Italia.  It represents Tom Dumoulin’s two rides which elevated him to greatness - the 2017 Giro d’Italia and the 2017 World Time Trial Championships in Norway.  Both victories catapulting him into Gold.  Forza Tom for 2018!

A pro cyclist commissioned this painting for another pro cyclist - the clue of the pro’s identity is in the helmet design. No prizes but can you guess who?“

    La Grande Boucle of Deception

The artlcle “Blurred Lines” in issue 64 of #Rouleur Magazine rekindled the feelings I had when I witnessed the false truce between Hinault and Greg LeMond on Alpe d’Huez in 1986. Preceding that day, I read of Bernard Hinault’s reneguing on his agreement that Greg LeMond should win the 1986 Tour.  LeMond had, apparently, agreed to allow Hinault to win the previous year even though he was quite capable of winning it himself.  Hinault attacked LeMond all that day even descending the Croix de la Fer. When they reached my vantage point on Alpe d’Huez, Hinault had realised that he couldn’t shake off LeMond but he still didn’t capitulate until Paris.  On my return, I created my painting as a statement of my affinity with Greg LeMond. Hidden messages within the painting highlight the collapse of Hinault’s world and the necessity of LeMond’s plan.  2016 and thirty years on this deception is still being discussed. Le Grande Boucle of Deception or Mondrian was Right can be viewed in section “Paintings”

    Rouleur

What an honour to be included in December’s edition of #Rouleur magazine - in my opinion, the magazine of magazines for the cycling connoisseur. Six of my paintings are featured in superb quality - I’m thrilled.

    Enjoy the read.

    Pilgrimage to Castellania

Realised, at last, a long-held desire to visit the tomb of my hero, #Fausto Coppi.

Delighted to find the outside of the museum festooned with photos

Held his famous #Bianchi jersey - what an honour.

In awe of #Coppi’s vast, prized jersey collection.

Honoured to be personally welcomed by #Fausto’s cousin and privileged to be allowed to hold the actual race helmet #Fausto Coppi wore when becoming World Champion at #Lugano 1953

Reflective moment on visiting Fausto Coppi’s tomb where he’s laid to rest alongside the tomb of his brother, #Serse Coppi

Houses in #Castellania are adorned with photos proudly displaying the many exploits of their most famous son, #Fausto Coppi. An unforgettable experience.
